Starts: 9/20/2026 | Ends: 9/28/2026

Step into the role of a historian and performer by giving an everyday invention a voice. Research how it changed over time, then turn accurate evidence into a lively four-question audio interview. 🌟 COMPETITION OVERVIEW This historical interpretation challenge combines research, imagination, and oral communication. You will investigate one familiar invention, identify how it developed, and present its story through an original first-person interview. 🎯 THE MISSION • Choose one safe everyday invention with a history you can research, such as a pencil, bicycle, clock, umbrella, zipper, refrigerator, or telephone. • Use at least two reliable, age-appropriate sources. • Record a host asking exactly four questions while the invention answers in the first person. • Explain the need the invention addressed, what an earlier version was like, how people used it, and one important way it changed. • Early learners may work with an adult to select two simple facts and record a shorter interview. • Older students should place the changes in historical context and clearly separate evidence from imaginative voice. 🔍 WHAT TO INCLUDE • Exactly four interview questions and four answers. • Accurate information about the invention’s purpose, earlier form, use, and development. • An engaging, original voice for both the host and the invention. • The spoken names of at least two reliable sources at the end of the recording. • Clear language and pacing that listeners can follow. 📋 RULES • Keep factual claims accurate. • Imaginative personality is welcome, but do not invent quotations or present guesses as facts. • Do not impersonate a living person or include private information. • All voices and sound effects must be original. • Do not include copyrighted music. • Keep the recording between 60 and 90 seconds; early learners may submit 45–90 seconds. • Create and upload exactly one audio file. 📤 SUBMISSION • Upload exactly one MP3, M4A, or WAV file. • The file must contain the complete interview and the spoken source names. • No paid software, specialized equipment, or written report is required. 🏆 JUDGING CRITERIA • Historical accuracy and use of reliable sources: 35% • Quality of interpretation and explanation of change over time: 25% • Engaging voice and performance: 20% • Interview structure and clarity: 10% • Accessibility and rule-following: 10% 🎁 WHY PARTICIPATE?
