Shadow Movement Experiment

Subject: Physics | Grade: 5 | Time: 20-30 minutes

Observe how the position of a light source changes the shape and direction of shadows to understand light behavior.

What you need

  • A torch/flashlight
  • A small toy or object
  • White paper or wall
  • A pencil (for tracing)
  • A dark room or corner

How it works

When the light source moves, the direction and length of the shadow change. This is because light travels in a straight line, and objects block light to create shadows.
